Deer delays meeting |
Corinthian Mark Lodge No 1052 held their last meeting of the season at Liverpool Masonic Hall on Thursday 28th April. The Lodge held its Installation meeting in October 2021 and this saw WBro Chris Bruffell go into the chair of the lodge for the first time. Then in February a new candidate, Bro Alan Parkinson was advanced into the lodge. WBro Chris Walls, PPrGMO who is the IPM of University of Liverpool Mark Lodge No 1062 actual preformed the advancement ceremony. |

He was assisted by other members of University Mark who were helping out. This brings us to the Corinthian’s April meeting. WBro Chris Bruffell wanted to perform an advancement ceremony and so the Lodge had arranged to do a demonstration. Over the years you may have heard some strange excuses as to why the Worshipful Master was going to be late for a meeting, but this one must be up there with the most bizarre. Deer was blocking the M57 and surrounding roads in the Huyton area. Now there are a staggering amount of puns that could be used from here on which I will resist. |

It decided to open the Lodge and proceed with the business of the meeting until the Master got there. WBro Jason Hengler, (IPM), took the chair and worked his way through the summons. One of the items of business was to elect a Master for next season. The luck winner was Bro John Bruffell, (the WM’s Dad). Who was being delayed by deer, with the WM.? In the risings, WBro Steve Walls, PGSD presented Bro Alan Parkinson with his Grand Lodge Certificate. |

Also, during the risings, WBro David Anderton, PGJD was congratulated on his Grand Rank promotion to VWBro David Anderton, PGJO which he will receive at the September meeting of Grand Lodge. WBro Jason Hengler was also congratulated on his upcoming appointment to Prov.G.Stwd. Jason will receive his appointment at the Provincial Grand Lodge in Blackpool on Thursday 5th May. Just as the summons business ended there was a knock on the door; the WM and SW had arrived. However, I was surprised that there was not one mention of the ‘Deer Hunter;’ there were several, but not just one. With WBro Chris Bruffell took his rightful place in the master’s Chair and WBro Jason Hengler then took the Junior Overseers seat and Bro John Bruffell replaced WBro Derek Gaskell, PPrGJW in the Senior Wardens chair. |

It was time for the demonstration. Bro Alan Parkinson acted as the candidate; WBro Gaskell acted as SD and WBro Syd Ford, PGStdB as JD. It was interesting to see how much Alan had remembered from his proper advancement and was a credit to the team that performed the ceremony. With the demonstration over it was time to close the Lodge. Mention must go to the Lodge secretary WBro Stewart Hyde, PPrGJD who had run round getting people to fill in for missing members. We wish all members of Corinthian Mark Lodge a good summer. |
